Welcome to Grid Stories

Why an independent streaming platform needs a newsroom of its own.

By Grid TV Editorial ·

Grid Stories is the editorial side of Grid TV. The platform streams independent films, documentaries, music videos, performances and original programming. This section exists to write about that work — where it comes from, how it gets made, and why it deserves an audience.

Streaming platforms tend to treat the catalog as the entire product: a wall of thumbnails and an autoplay preview. That works if a viewer already knows what they want. It does very little for an independent filmmaker whose short film has no marketing budget and no press coverage, and it does very little for a viewer who is browsing for something new.

What we publish here

Grid Stories covers the platform and the culture around it. Some pieces are practical, like how submissions are reviewed. Some are about the films themselves, especially the preserved and public-domain titles in the catalog that carry real film history. Others are creator features and interviews.

  • Platform news and release notes from the Grid TV team.
  • Guides for filmmakers, musicians and podcasters who want to submit work.
  • Context and history on the films and documentaries streaming on Grid TV.
  • Creator features and interviews, published only from conversations we actually recorded.

What we will not publish

Grid Stories does not run invented interviews, made-up quotes, fabricated filmmaker biographies, or filler written to fill a page. If a creator profile is thin, it is because the creator has not sent us their bio yet — not because we decided to write one for them.

That rule costs us volume. It is worth it. An independent platform trades on being trusted by the people whose work it distributes.
